The Blue Feather Initiative

The Blue Feather Initiative is our sister organization and a 501(c)3 sponsored project of WV Can’t Wait Mutual Aid (EIN: 86-1651437).

It is a community-based nonprofit committed to mutual aid, historical preservation, and rural resilience in Appalachian and coalfield communities. From trauma care kits to heirloom seed exchanges, we support working-class people with practical tools, shared knowledge, and deep respect for the region’s legacy of self-reliance.

Our work blends direct relief with long-term empowerment — honoring the past, serving the present, and building a future where no one is left behind.

We believe that mutual aid is a birthright, not a handout — and that rural people deserve infrastructure, care, and autonomy. Whether it’s preserving labor history, planting tomatoes, or getting someone to their doctor’s appointment, every act of solidarity builds power.
