Marine Corps veteran and working-class organizer Zach Shrewsbury has officially announced his second campaign for the U.S. Senate, taking direct aim at Republican incumbent Shelley Moore Capito.
Shrewsbury, who gained statewide attention in his 2024 primary run, is running a people-powered campaign focused on economic justice, local investment, and ending corporate control over West Virginia politics. “You can’t serve the people and the corporations at the same time,” Shrewsbury said. “Senator Shelley Moore Capito picked her side a long time ago. And it wasn’t us.” “For decades, Shelley Moore Capito and her family have ruled West Virginia like feudal lords passing power down like heirlooms while our towns crumbled and our people suffered,” he continued. “She’s watched addiction ravage our communities, jobs vanish, and hospitals close—all while cashing checks from lobbyists and corporations that profit off our pain. She’s forgotten her roots in West Virginia because she’s bought and sold by D.C. We don’t need another hollow name clinging to power. We need someone who knows our hollers and backroads, not just the inside of a lobbyist’s wallet or the tread of Trump’s shoe.”
Key Issues:
- Economic Justice – Invest in infrastructure, raise wages, stop corporate tax breaks that hurt local communities.
- Rural Investment – Expand healthcare, improve housing, and tackle the addiction crisis with resources—not judgment.
- Labor Rights – Strengthen unions, protect workers, and bring back dignity to West Virginia jobs.
Shrewsbury’s campaign won’t take a dime of corporate PAC money, now or ever, and will rely on grassroots support, town halls, and community organizing across all 55 counties.
